Recovered!

It has been about 5 weeks of recovery, and we could not be more grateful. Fisher wore a boot and consumed copious amounts of oral antibiotics for 4 weeks, and he was a champ throughout it all. Fish had minimal complaints, just powered through it all with such incredible patience. Asking a very active 5-year-old BOY to take it easy was not an easy task, but somehow we all survived.

I look back at the nightmare experience, and it all seems so surreal. How he was rushed into emergency surgery 6 weeks ago and now he's as happy and healthy as can be.

Thanks to everyone for the gifts, calls, texts, and visits. We are surrounded by an amazing tribe of friends and family, and we couldn't have done it without everyone's support.

Despite the drama since his diagnosis, Fish still showed his many silly, sweet, and wild sides.

Waiting for the orthopedic surgeon to give us the news - no more boot after the 4 weeks we already had under our belt OR continued boot wear... Fisher crossed fingers and toes, very hopeful. It worked, only 4 weeks - YAY!

Waiting for the update from the infectious disease doc... more yucky meds, or in the clear? Fisher dressed for the occasion, and we took that fact that he was in the "Fish" room as a good luck charm. Apparently it was because the doc considered him a graduate from his office after 4 weeks of disgusting antibiotics. Fish exclaims, "Woo hoo, no more pokes (shots)!"
