Thumbs Up

It is truly incredible how much can happen in a week's time for an 11 week old. Ellie's personality is really blossoming, and we've encountered the following over the last week:

: From fists to thumbs! Ellie is officially a thumb sucker which has done wonders for her to be able to soothe herself. She usually sucks her left thumb and simultaneously touches the back of her head with her right hand. It's so sweet to watch;)

: Sleep training: We have worked really hard over the last week to guide Ellie into a more scheduled sleeping pattern. And slowly but surely, it seems to be working. She's taking 2 naps around the same time every day. AND, Ellie slept 10 hours straight 2 nights in a row. Of course, I practically shouted the news from the rooftop and jinxed myself, so last night was a bit of a regression.

The first night that we were blessed with a 10 hour stretch, Justin says, "This is incredible... I feel like a normal person again." I'd take that a step further and and say that I felt like Super Woman. Here's to hoping my daughter keeps headed in the right direction.

: We now have a 12 pounder on our hands. Ellie is quickly growing out of her 0-3 month clothes. I'm secretly excited for her to grow into some of the super cute 3-6 month outfits waiting for her.

We are officially in countdown mode to our first family vacation. We leave for Chicago next week and are beside ourselves with excitement. Ellie's not going to know what hit her when she gets manhandled/spoiled by all of the friends and family there. Justin and I won't know what to do with ourselves having 2 free hands for the majority of the trip.

Justin's partner, Matt, was in town for work and came over for dinner. He was a natural with Ellie... must be genetic because his mother is a pediatrician.

When Justin isn't traveling, we sneak into the office to get some Daddy/Daughter time.

We went to a birthday happy hour. Our friend, Meredith, is due with a baby girl next month. Ellie - "Hey you, get out of there so I can have a playmate!"

Our friend and my colleague, Kelly. She is a saint for taking the reigns while I was out on maternity leave;)

Meghan, the birthday girl... she's responsible for many of Ellie's adorable outfits.

Ellie, whatever you do, DON'T smile.

All business

There we go - happy Ellie!

e
Ellie prefers to be upright or sitting up because she doesn't want to miss a THING.

She recently discovered her toes and was pretty enamored. She'll stare at them for several minutes at a time.

Naked baby! Bathtime is part of our nightly bedtime routine - Ellie loves her baths.

Our little thumb sucker....
So peaceful...
